Looking for a Golf Writer? I Might Be Your Man


I love golf. I'm not great at hitting greens in regulation or finding the middle of the fairway. But I can usually shoot under 90 and enjoy a much-needed beer at the 19th.

I'm a member of Garuga Golf Club in Southwestern Uganda. Rough around the edges and with greens longer than John Daly's beard, it's a true test of golf in the wilderness.

I've also started playing at Palm Valley Golf Club in Kampala and will likely join as a member in the coming months. I play for fun and friendship rather than to win or to reduce my handicap. Getting out there and hitting a few balls is one of my favourite things to do, whether or not I score well.

But over the past four years, I've also earned my crust as a golf writer. 

I regularly have to pinch myself that I earn money as a sports writer, and golf is one of my favourite sports to write about. 

One of my biggest freelance gigs was working alongside the team at Windtree Golf, where I produced over 100 articles. Over 12 months, I wrote about rules, equipment, and other aspects of the game I love. 

After trading the freelance world for a full-time role with Magic Word Media, the golf gigs have continued to fall on my desk. 

For instance, I'm particularly proud of this recent piece about Phil Mickelson's Gambling Habit, which I ghostwrote for one of our clients last month. I love Lefty and empathise with his plight. I hope he can put some of his troubles behind him and enjoy life on the LIV Tour, which I'm sure he will. 

I also write golf articles previewing the Majors and other tournaments on the DP World, PGA, and LIV tours each month. These are published on some of the biggest sportsbooks in the UK and US markets, so they have to be accurate.

Introducing EA Travel Hub: My African Travel Blog

I read travel writers voraciously. Michael Palin , Paul Theroux, Bill Bryson, and Ernest Hemingway are among my favourite authors.   While I don't yet have the courage to write a travelogue in book form, a couple of years ago, I launched my travel blog, EA Travel Hub .  It wasn't my first attempt at a niche website. I'd previously launched a football (soccer) website for beginners, but fell foul to hackers. Disappointing, but a helpful lesson in site security.  My goal with EA Travel Hub is to provide a first-hand account of popular destinations across East Africa, a part of the world I know and love.  I've partnered with Simon at Magic Word Media to help me with the backend of the site and to provide meaningful recommendations (via booking partnerships) to those hoping to travel in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania.   You really need to visit Diani Beach in Kenya to see how beautiful it is.
